Anti-Reflection Coating - what is this and how does it help?

As the name suggests, anti-reflection (AR) coating is a treatment on the surface of a lens which reduces reflections caused by the smooth lens surface. The benefits of AR coating is reduced glare, with a more dramatic improvement when night driving, outdoors, or working with indoors lighting and screen. Your vision will be clearer.

It also improves the cosmetics of your glasses, your eyes are clearer when people look at you.

We highly recommend AR coating and would not be without it ourselves. But be aware, all AR coating is not created equally. We most commonly use Diamond Finish AR on our Hoya prescription lenses. This has a very hard finish and is more scratch resistant (5x) than other options. This gives you long term durability, and also makes your lenses easier to clean, and less likely to get smudged.
